Parade Entries Description

1. Pace Car

2002 GMC Envoy. Winner of the Calgary Herald/GMC "Best Seat in the Parade" contest sets the pace in this 2002 GMC Envoy and will drive away with it at the end of the parade.



2. Harry the Horse

The mascot for the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.



3. Stampede Show Band

Officially representing the parade since 1971,this 150 member band has won six gold medals in three World Music Contests. It is also the first two-time world marching Showband champion. The Band will make 70 appearances during Stampede.



4. Stampede Show Riders

The Showriders tour with the Stampede Show Band. This year they'll travel to Europe immediately after Stampede and will present their traditional western show "Cowboys."



5. RCMP Honour Guard

Two members of the RCMP are the official honour guard for the parade.
6. Parade Marshal

This year's parade marshall is Chris Hadfield, Canada's bestknown astronaut. He is riding in the Chinook Valley Classic carriage.



7. Crew of the Space Shuttle Endeavor

Kent Rominger(U.S.), Jeffrey Ashby(U.S.), Scott Parazynski(U.S.), Jone Phillips(U.S.), Umberto Guidono(Italy), Yuri Lonchakob-Valentinovich(Russia)



8. Stampede President and Executive

President Roger Jarvis, Past president Rob Matthews, Vice presidents Don Wilson and Steve Allen and General Manager Steve Edwards are riding on horseback.



9. Stampede Queen and Princesses

The Queen, Maria Heintzm, and her Princesses Alison Collins and Lisa McNiven, are the official ambassadors of the Stampede. There next 10 days will be be busiest of their year-long reign.



10. Stampede Directors

Twenty of the Stampede directors are elected and five are appointed. All 25 directors serve for a two-year term.



11. Calgary Stampede Float

This float represents the Half Million Dollar Rodeo that takes place every afternoon during Stampede. This float visited Hong Kong earlier this year and was viewed by more than 100 million people.



12. The Air Command Band

This military marching band and concert band plays a variety of music, from classical and concert to country and rock and roll. It was formed in 1946 and performs throughout Canada and abroad.



13. Strathcona Mounted Troop

The Strathcona Mounted Troop represents the military history of western Canada and was formed in 1900.



14. Mayor of Calgary

Mayor Al Duerr and his family take part in the parade. Mayor Duerr is Calgary's longest-serving mayor.



15. Treaty 7 Chiefs

These Alberta chiefs represent their native people residing on reservations across southern Alberta.
